14 years ago, I arrived in Dubai with my 2-year-old son. Today, he’s a 16-year-old with aspirations of becoming a cybersecurity engineer. Balancing my career in product with raising a child in this vibrant region has been incredibly rewarding.
I am an accomplished Design Director with expertise in product design, design program management, design systems, and design operations. Over 10 years, I've managed and led design across various roles and spent 5+ years hands-on as a UX designer and design thinking workshop facilitator. My journey includes a transformative year leading design at IBM, where I honed my skills in design thinking, UX design, user research, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
As the Head of Design at Delivery Hero MENA, talabat, I steer a talented team across Content Design, Design Operations, and 4 Product Tribes, driven by a mission to craft a world-class online delivery experience in the Middle East.
During my tenure, I've achieved significant milestones including spearheading a global rebranding effort across 9 markets, which not only revitalised talabat's brand presence but also amplified user engagement. I orchestrated a remarkable 45% growth in the design team within a single year, strategically scaling our capabilities to meet evolving business needs.
My commitment to fostering a culture of design excellence led me to establish an in-house design studio, a designOps practice and build a high-performing Design System team from the ground up. This team, now comprising 7 specialists, has been instrumental in standardising design processes and ensuring consistency across all product offerings. I also championed the hiring of the organisation's first UX engineers, integrating essential skill sets that have further elevated our design capabilities.
Passionate about knowledge-sharing and industry collaboration, I actively engage with peers and thought leaders through speaking engagements, including keynotes, panel discussions, fireside chats, and workshops. These platforms allow me to impart insights on UX, design strategy, career development, leadership, and organizational culture.
